tle Pleasures,I went to a daytime concert featuring modern classics composed in the Showa era.
The performers were all university students studying piano, vocals, and saxophone. They were high school students just two years ago!
So I didn't expect much from their performance, assuming it was a recital mainly for their family members and classmates.
But it turned out to be a pleasant surprise, really. Although I hadn't heard any of the pieces on the program, and the selection seemed rather ambitious, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I even ended up being impressed by their guts and high motivation.
The short duration, about an hour, also left a good impression. I would certainly have lost my patience had I listened to the avant-garde, experimental second piece for much longer.
