Coffee and "Showa" doughnut: 498yen at Donguri

The word "Showa" here implies something "nostalgic" or "old-fashioned," I guess.

Despite being located on the eastern edge of the city center, this branch of Donguri in the Le Trois shopping center felt unexpectedly cozy and quiet.

At half past ten on a weekday morning, I was the only person in the cafeteria section. I enjoyed the crunchy doughnut and coffee alongside an autumn view of Odori Park.

In fact, along this street, there are plenty of options for a quick break: Doutor Coffee is the safest bet, having soft-serve ice cream alongside tourists at Sato Suisan, enjoying giant pastries at Komeda Coffee, or visiting one of the more upmarket places where a cup of coffee costs over 700 yen, if you prefer.
