My Ideal Cream Puff @ Mitsuboshi

Recently, I’ve been craving a plain cream puff filled strictly with fresh whipped cream—no custard allowed. However, modern, trendy cream puffs almost always have something extra added to them: fruit, a super-crispy cookie crust, cheese, or added flavorings. Just leave them simple!

Today, I finally found my dream cream puff—discounted to 210 yen because it was a day old—alongside a traditional (at least by my standards) fluffy cheesecake for 270 yen. I found them at a local branch of Mitsuboshi, a Tomakomai-based confectioner with a long-established tradition.
Perfect!

I couldn't help snapping them up, even though my birthday is next week and I was planning to indulge in plenty of cake then. Yet, my cake craving was fully satisfied for under 500 yen. The cakes tasted exactly as I had hoped, and Mitsuboshi is doing a great job preserving the good old traditions at such reasonable prices. But, but... part of me feels somewhat disappointed by my own decision.
