Cold Wave in October!

It suddenly became cold today.

The temperature was not that low. The high temperature reached 17.1 degrees Celsius, but it feels as if the last remnants of summer have been completely taken over by winter.

As I walked across the bridge over the river, my fingers grew stiff, and I realized that clothes are meant to keep us warm and protected, rather than serve as mere decoration. In fact, I saw someone wearing a puffer jacket for the first time this season today. At the same time, a few stubborn people were still walking around in just a shirt, as if refusing to admit the end of the warmer season.

I cooked the first nabe dish of the season, throwing in whatever ingredients I had on hand.

There is no rainy season or typhoon season here, but there is this sudden, bitter cold spell at the beginning of October, right when we are supposed to be enjoying a dry and comfortable time of the year. This year's first snow is just around the corner, I'm afraid.
